Xan's a lonely 300-something on the run living in an old military racing rocket and occasionally having sex for money. When Xan rescues May from a lifetime of alien servitude, they become tentative friends. Together, they bring the illicit rocket racing scene to its knees (with laughter) as they try to make a living going really, really fast and not dying about it.

But even a Class 20 racing rocket isn't fast enough to outrun Xan's troubled past and the Earth's troubled future.
