The Story

Universes are colliding and only one can survive each Incursion. The Illuminati have been destroying other Earths in secret; the Avengers find out and split, one faction hunting their former friends while Steve Rogers, aged and furious, leads the hunt. Tony Stark and Doctor Strange are missing. The last Incursion is the Ultimate Universe, and Secret Wars starts where this ends.

Why Read It

This is the Avengers story the Doomsday and Secret Wars films are drawing from, and Hickman's run is the reason. The Premier Collection cuts the run to the essential chapters, so it reads as one book instead of two years of tie-ins.

Do I need the rest of Hickman's Avengers?

Helpful but not required. The Premier edition includes a recap. Secret Wars (also in Premier format) is the direct sequel.
