Avengers/JLA #4 Facsimile Edition is the August 26, 2026 reprint of the finale of Kurt Busiek and George Pérez's 2003–04 DC/Marvel crossover, here with Cover E, Gabriele Dell'Otto's wraparound variant: a painted Superman, suit shredded, bracing Captain America's shield and gripping Thor's hammer as lightning tears the sky. The image reinterprets Pérez's original #4 cover and wraps across the back with the tattered cape and the energy blast.

The Story
The two universes are collapsing into one another. Cities, citizens and whole histories shift as the Justice League and the Avengers scramble to save people on both Earths. With reality coming apart, the teams stop defending and go on the offensive: a full assault on Krona, the mad Oan whose hunt for the secret of creation set the crossover in motion. It is the issue that pays off everything Pérez drew in the first three — the hero roll calls, the cosmic bargain, and the final stand that costs the teams dearly.
Why Collect This Issue
- Dell'Otto on Superman — painted covers from Dell'Otto are a sought-after sub-collection, and this is one of the rare times he has painted a DC character on an official cover.
- The crossover that was out of print for 20 years — the original JLA/Avengers was tied up in rights issues for most of two decades; the 2026 facsimile line is the first time the single issues have been back on shelves since 2004.
- Wraparound format — the back half of the image is part of the art, so it displays as a full spread when bagged open-faced.
- Finale issue — #4 is where the famous Superman-with-shield-and-hammer image comes from; collectors chase this issue over the other three.
Is this the original 2004 issue?
No. It is DC's 2026 Facsimile Edition reprinting the full interior of the original. The Dell'Otto cover is new to this edition and did not exist on the 2004 printing.
Is this a wraparound cover?
Yes. The art continues across the back cover; the barcode and price box sit on the back.
Do I need issues 1–3?
#4 is the conclusion, so the story reads best after the first three facsimiles, but the cover is the draw for most buyers of this variant.
