Meet the creator

Erik Larsen made his name drawing Amazing Spider-Man in the late 1980s before becoming one of the founding partners of Image Comics in 1992, where he launched Savage Dragon as his own creator-owned title. Uniquely among major ongoing superhero books, Larsen has written, pencilled, inked, and lettered nearly the entire run himself for over three decades — and has let the cast age and evolve in real time, with Malcolm succeeding his father as the lead. He's also served multiple terms as Image's publisher.

What it's worth

A recent, widely available milestone. Standard Cover A raw NM copies trade $5–$15; CGC 9.8 (Cover A) copies typically fall $40–$70. Signature-series copies and scarcer variants sell higher. Its claim to fame: the second original Image title to reach #250, and a true solo-creator achievement.
