DC Launches Its Year of Wonder for Wonder Woman

DC Year of Wonder

On Wonder Woman Day, the 85th anniversary of her first appearance in All-Star Comics #8 (1941), DC announced the Year of Wonder: rotating all-star creative teams on the main Wonder Woman book throughout 2027. Tom King and Daniel Sampere wrap their run this December.

First up is writer Louise Simonson and artist Cian Tormey on a four-issue story starting with Wonder Woman #41 (January 20, 2027; 32 pages; $4.99, card stock variants $5.99). Diana pushes to abolish the Amazon Safety Act so her sisters can return to Man's World, with Lois Lane, Granny Goodness, and the Female Furies in the mix. Covers: Ryan Sook (main), variants by Daniel Sampere, Walter Simonson, and Cian Tormey, a David Nakayama foil, and an Alexander Lozano Sweater Weather variant.

Then writer Stephanie Williams and artist Elena Casagrande take over for an all-new six-issue arc running through October 2027. DC says more creators will be revealed through 2027.

Opinion: A rotating-team model means several new arc starting points, and #41 has a deep variant slate. Whether any of it turns scarce is speculation.

DCU Poison Ivy Series Reportedly in the Works, With The Penguin Showrunner Eyed

DCU Poison Ivy series reported

Bleeding Cool (Oct 21), citing an exclusive from Deadline, reports that Lauren LeFranc, showrunner and executive producer of HBO's The Penguin, is in talks to join a new live-action Poison Ivy series from Warner Bros. and DC Comics as a producer.

Deadline's sources say LeFranc would produce, not write, and that this would be the DCU's Poison Ivy, not the version in Matt Reeves' Batman universe. The Penguin starred Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti.

Not known: title, platform, writers, cast, episode order, and timeline. Bleeding Cool itself says details are sketchy and no confirmations have been released. Verified background: Poison Ivy was created by Carmine Infantino, Robert Kanigher, and Sheldon Moldoff and first appeared in Batman #181 (June 1966).

Opinion: Whether Batman #181 moves on this news is speculation. It is a report, not an announcement.
